The Men & Family Centre offers many programs & courses:

MEND: Groups for men who are troubled by their violence, abuse or anger.
WEND: Groups for partners of men attending MEND groups.
TeleMEND: Telephone based delivery of the MEND program
The Mobile Men's Shed: Outreach to isolated men.
Skilled Mates: Training for men interested in voluteering to support men families and the community.
Mensline: Confidential peer support for men who want to talk but who may find it difficult to "open up".
BUILD courses: Self Esteem, Loss & Grief, Parenting for Dads, Support groups for men who have been sexually abused, and more
Dads & Kids Playgroup.
Call Back: Men who wish can receive a regular telephone call keeping them informed of relevant programs and offering the chance of talking things over.

Groups to support dad's including separated dads and dads to be, gain fathering skills and build closer and more nurturing relationships with their children. Aims will be to share information, resources, experiences and build self-awareness and self-esteem. The Dads and Kids Playgroup meets weekly for dads, and children who are 5 years and under.

These groups offer a confidential and supportive environment in which men can talk about and begin to heal the experiences of isolation, confusion and self-blame which often accompany the physical and emotional trauma of having been sexually abused.

These 12 week groups assist participants to develop a new sense of personal power and value by challenging the judgemental voice of the 'inner critic'. Old patterns are revealed and habitual, negative self-statements are exposed and analysed. Instead of undermining the self, participants learn to build on a stronger foundation of personal resources.

Groups to enable you to explore and develop new and more productive ways of communicating and relating with others. Builds on a strong foundation of self-awareness and respect for your needs and the needs of others. Manage your emotions more strategically and recognise conflict as an opportunity for positive change in your life.

support groups for women

WEND groups are for partners of men attending the MEND groups and for any woman who has experienced abusive or violent domestic relationships. The group offers support and encouragement to participants in their striving for safe, happy, and fulfilling, family lives. Women & Anger groups support women to work with their own issues around anger and/or abuse. Groups for women are run by experienced female facilitators.

mobile men's shed

A mobile meeting place with support and resources for men and their issues. An outreach program of the men & family centre travelling throughout the region. Networking with other men's support services to provide information, education, and referrals for men. A safe and friendly place to talk about your concerns.

men's line - peer support for men

mensline - peer support for men

Mensline is a free, confidential, and anonymous, information and referral service, available nightly between 7pm and 11pm for men who want to talk but who may find it difficult to 'open up'. This is a peer support service using counsellors trained to effectively provide support to local men.

broad centre training

The centre provides training for counsellors and community welfare workers building skills and abilities on a variety of issues, including Tackling the Sharp End for practitioners working with clients to end violent and abusive behaviour. Skilled Mates is a course for male volunteers that includes learning communication skills, dearling with conflict and men's health.
